A Little Christmas Gift!

Hey everyone!

Sorry it's been a little while since I last updated but it's been a bit crazy around here.  The biggest thing that's happened is probably that my husband and I bought a house!!  It was a long hunt (nearly 7 months of hard looking) but we finally found one that we absolutely love!  So packing, moving and unpacking has been taking up a lot of my time.  The office isn't set up yet, so I haven't been able to properly work on projects or post them from the computer.  However, putting all that aside... Have you guys noticed how quickly Christmas has been sneaking up?  Here in Alberta, Canada it's been snowing for almost the whole month and it's definitely feeling a lot like Christmas!

So!  Since it's that time of year again, I thought it was only appropriate to throw in a little Christmas Special for everyone!! I'm having a 60% off sale on all packages listed on my website!  That's a HUGE amount of savings!!  So go over and take a look!  Custom scrapbooks make perfect gifts for yourself (finally want to get all those photos from your vacation to Mexico into an album and off your computer?) or for someone special (anniversary coming up? Why not make an album recording your past years together?)!

And if you have something else in mind that you don't see listed on my site, just email me, and I'll get back to you right away!

HAPPY SCRAPPING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!!  =]  Will be back with more updates on layouts and projects soon!

Two Trips

Hello again!  I'm back with another layout and video to share today.

Didn't really have a plan for this layout before I sat down at my desk; it mostly just came together by itself as I started, and I really like how it turned out.

The sticker and flair badge are both from older American Crafts collections, and I especially love the plastic shapes!  I think the staples add a nice touch, and I love using staples, anyway.  Brads are from BasicGrey and Doodlebug, I believe.

Love that little sticker (also from AC), and added pop dots to it for some dimension.  Both alphas are AC Thickers in the font Nutmeg, and they are one of my favs!

Here's the process video if you guys are interested:

Have a lovely night, and hope you all get to eat lots of turkey with family!  Unfortunately, Thanksgiving for me this year is a little on the small side.  My husband is up at work, and I wasn't able to fly home to see my parents, siblings and little nephew.  So, it's just my cats and myself for this long weekend with scrapbooking, movie-watching, tea-drinking and non-thanksgiving meals to keep me entertained.  But it's been wonderful so far, and I hope you all are enjoying yourselves, whether with loved ones or by yourself!

Happy scrapping, everyone!

Two Birthdays!

Hello, wonderful folks!  I have a layout to share today, and it comes along with a process video!  Hooray!

Background paper, along with the other two papers are an older My Mind's Eye, from their Hip-Hooray "Boy" collection.  I'd been holding onto the banner paper, waiting for the perfect time to use it, and finally decided that I didn't want to just let it sit in my stash forever, but instead I wanted to actually use it!

Silver self-adhesive rhinestones from Abi's Craft, and blue arrow "document" embellishment from Evalicious.

I love that happy birthday self-adhesive badge, and got it from a friend when she was clearing out some of her scrapbooking supplies.  I'm not sure where it's originally from, but I have a bunch of them for different occasions, and think they are just so cute!

The "noted" square paper is also from Evalicious, and the "birthday" piece is actually a journaling card from an older Echo Park collection, which I just cut apart.

My favourite white letter thickers from Amy Tan in the font "Journal" just worked perfectly!  And I really like the look of the raised paper edges, which I've been seeing a lot of lately.

And here is the Start to Finish process video for this layout:

More videos can be found on my Youtube channel, and definitely like, comment and subscribe if you feel like sharing the love! =]

Hope you all are having a great start to your Thanksgiving weekend (if you're from Canada, like me!) and hope you guys enjoy the rest of it!!  I'm hoping to be back tomorrow with another layout and video, so check back on your down-time, in between eating turkey and pumpkin pie!

Happy scrapping!

Aloha to 3!

Good afternoon, all!  Hope your Sunday has been pretty wonderful so far.  My weekend has been pretty busy; working on finishing up a client's album (which is now complete, hooray!), filming a bunch of Start to Finish layout videos (one of which is uploading to Youtube on my laptop as I type, double yay!), along with usual cleaning and tidying of the apartment (I seriously scrubbed my bathroom top to bottom yesterday, and feel SO accomplished with that small feat!).
But today, I have a layout to share with you all!

Last week, Corrie Jones (one of the garden girls over at Two Peas) had a video posted, encouraging some painting on layouts, and I was inspired to give it a try.  Added some pale yellow to white cardstock, and a strip of paper from an older Crate Paper collection down the middle.

Blue Thickers from AC in the font Iguana and I'm still using up those smaller letter stickers from Cosmo Cricket.

And then I just went crazy adding different circular shaped embellishments - brads (from different BasicGrey collections), jewels, paperclips (also from different BG collections), flair, and a random pineapple (which I acquired through a friend, because metal fruit are just too cool)!

Hope you all have a great night to end the weekend!
Happy scrapping!

enjoying the twos!

Hey everyone!  Hope your weekend has been wonderful so far!  I have a layout to share today - part of the baby album I'm working on for a client, and a process video for it up on my youtube channel. =]

I printed the photos at home on my Canon Selphy, after I resized them all to 3x4.  Arranged them in a grid pattern, and matted them to cream cardstock.  Added some orange brads to each of the corners, just to dress it up a bit.  The background paper is from the Animal Crackers for Boys collection pad from GCD Studios.  I pick up a lot of 12x12 collection pads from my local Winners store (similar to Target or Ross in the States), and thought the colours in the Animal Crackers would work really great for this particular album for my client.

The brown tile letters are from Amy Tangerine, and the orange chipboard letters are American Craft Thickers in the Iguana font.  I also outlined around the Thickers to make them pop off the page a little more, and added a BasicGrey wood vaneer arrow to draw more attention to the title (as well as use the odd gap of space efficiently).

The cute little giraffe drawing, and the tiny heart, are both also from the Animal Crackers collection pad.  The full 12x12 paper had all sorts of circles with different animals and icons on it, but I just used my scissors to cut around the giraffe (since I didn't have a circle punch that would fit the size I needed), and I used my smallest circle punch for the heart.  Cut a few papers from my scrap basket into banner shapes and layered them underneath.  The sparkly blue bird is from an American Crafts Remarks sticker sheet, and I just stapled it to make sure it wouldn't move around, but wasn't stuck flat.  Lastly, I added the asterisk from the AC Thicker sheet to bring the orange up to the top of the page, since it seemed like it needed it.

Also, here's the process video for this layout, up on my Youtube channel.  =]

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!  I think this is the last warm one up here in northern Canada (where I am, at least).  We were lucky to get this far without having to break out the parkas and boots!
Happy scrapping!

brand new. almost one.

Hello everyone!  Today I have a double spread layout to share with you all. =]  My previous post was also part of this baby book album for a client, and I'm almost all done with it, so I'm starting to get all the posts up!

The orange and cream letters are from American Crafts, and one of my favourites!  They were part of the 42 thickers I picked up from Abi's Craft when she was having her 90% closing down sale a few months ago.  "Happy" wood vaneer from BasicGrey, yellow gems also from Abi's Craft, yellow square are the Evalicious page tabs, and the hearts are chipboard from Maya Road which I inked blue.

The little yellow letter stickers are the Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type alphas.  They're discontinued right now, but you might be able to find a couple scattered around on Ebay or Amazon.  I was desperately searching for them, and managed to find a copy on Ebay but there were only 3 left at the time (and that was a few weeks ago).  Chipboard houses also from Maya Road.

Keep an eye out!  I'll be posting more layouts for this baby book in the following week.  And, I'm in the process of uploading a scrapbook haul video to my YouTube channel right now, so that should be up in a few hours, if you want to check that out.  =]

Happy scrapping on this gorgeous Sunday!

E's 1st Birthday

Hey folks!  A quick layout to share today, and this one even comes with a video!  Whoo-hoo! =]

I love all the circular shapes on this page, from the misted white cardstock, to the half circle punched pieces, paint splatters, brads (both from older BasicGrey collections), flair (from Finding Nana) and gems (Abi's Craft).

The yellow and white lettering are some American Crafts flocked Thickers in the Letterman font, and the smaller ones are the Alphabeans from Jillibean Soup in Diced Denim.  I love that brad with the little heart in the centre!  So cute!

Also totally love the little heart on the typewriter.  I would love to find myself an old typewriter one day!  Also, here's the video, if you're interested in taking a look at how this layout came together!  =]  I try and upload videos as often as I can, so head on over there to see other videos on my channel, if you'd like.  =]

Happy scrapping, everyone!

the 2nd ring.

Good afternoon, everyone!  I have a layout to share today, full of sparkles, glitter and sentiment, but very simple!  Well overdue, this photo was taken when my husband had proposed to me with an Eyore stuffie on an Easter hunt.  Clearly, everyone can tell that I'm actually 5 at heart, instead of the 23 I claim to be?  ;)

The strips of glitter on the right side are all from the American Crafts 24 glitter tape pack.  I added adhesive but also stapled them at each end (I love my staples, after all!)

Used the heart border punch from Fiskars for a little detail, and then outlined all the tiny hearts.  For the title, I used a combination of smaller blue letter stickers from Basic Grey, and the bigger white foam Thickers from Amy Tangerine.

The blue camera and black/white herringbone papers are both from a 6x6 Amy Tabgerine paper pad, and I ripped them on the top and bottom for some added detail.  Ripping papers is one of my favourite ways to add detail to a simple page.

Even though this page is super basic, I still love it.  <3
Hope you all are having a fabulous week!  Keep crafting!

Common Spa Date

Heyhey everyone!  I got to spend this past weekend with some of my best friends ever, taking a weekend trip to a special little place called Drumheller (the dinosaur capital of the world)!  It was such an amazing trip, much too short, but jam-packed with so much FUN.  Now the (almost) countdown can begin for our next roadtrip!

That being said, I didn't get a chance to scrapbook while living it up with awesome dinosaurs and all.  But, I did want to share a layout I did before leaving on our adventure.

Most of what I used on this layout is from an older Echo Park collection (including the pink and blue papers, journaling card, stickers and borders).  The flowers are from the same Amy Tangerine cut-apart sheet that I used in a previous blog post.  The flair badges are from Finding Nana (I love her flair designs).  The red letters in the title are AC Thickers, and I believe the black are from K & Company (but they are so old, I don't even remember when I got them).

I stamped the date with some blue pigment ink, using the small letter stamps from the "dollar bin" at my local Michaels store.  I'm pretty sure they're Studio G stamps.
Have a wonderful week ahead, friends!

Happy scrapping,

a quick visit.

Hey all!  Another quick layout to share today, using scraps leftover from a butterfly punch (or the negative of the punch, rather).

I had used the butterflies on a different page, different day, and was clearing off the desk when I decided to not waste it and instead use it!  Backed against the plain cardstock, it looks really pretty and adds a little bit of detail on an otherwise simple page.

Using such a small photo (a 2x2 that I cut into a polaroid style - from the wonderful Persnickety Prints) on such a large background can sometimes be challenging, but I just worked my way from the middle outwards.  Did some basic layering, added a journaling card from Simple Stories, went back and misted/splattered the background with Mister Huey's ink in Espresso, and the layout was pretty much looking good.  I cut apart the flowers from an Amy Tangerine collection (I've been using those flowers a lot as cut-aparts - they're beautiful!), added a title (AC Thickers in the Stroll font), some washi tape and triangles and we're done! =]

Have a lovely evening, and have fun scrapping/being creative!

the hunt is on.

So here's another quick post for the day!  Two in one, can you believe it?!  And this one actually used more than 2 photos!  Hooray!

Used some Echo Park and October Afternoon for the 3x4 journaling cards, Dear Lizzy stickers and a super cute American Crafts butterflies!

Added some doodling to the heart paper, and I don't think I could have used up any more staples on a single page, but I love it!  The blue letter stickers are from Pebbles, and I also used the white Thickers from AC.

Have a good night, everyone!  And happy scrapping!

We Love Dora

Hey everyone!  I have a quick and simple layout to share today, from a local fair last summer.  I really didn't have any idea of what I wanted to do on this layout before sitting down at the desk, but I knew the photos I wanted to use.  As I was grabbing the photos (hot cocoa in hand), I saw the Glitz giant rhinestones from the Uncharted Waters collection in my embellishment box, and pulled them out.  And it sort of went from there... not really having a clue where my mind was taking me, but letting it guide me to the finished page. =]

Definitely loving the Glitz rhinestones (always do!) mixed with some older Dear Lizzy floral stickers.

That blue flower diecut is from an older K & Company collection, I believe, but I'm not exactly sure what the name of the collection is (something to do with family).  Word stickers from The Girls Paperie (love them!) that I've had in my stash for a couple years and continue to use often.

And my current favourite Thickers are these black glitter ones from AC.  Can't get enough of them!

Hope you guys have a wonderful rest of the Labour Day long weekend!  My parents are visiting from out of town, and it's been lovely having them around - we've been doing quite a bit of shopping! =]

Happy scrapping!

a little vintage feeling

Holy smokes, it's been a busy couple of weeks, topped off with an incredibly jam-packed weekend!  Not much time for scrapbooking, but I wanted to share a layout for a wedding album (not mine) that I'm working on.

I'm super excited for this album!  The wedding colours were red/white/black but it took place a few days before Christmas, and was the snowiest day of the year.  Since white and black are both neutrals, I wanted to bring another colour into the mix, but thought green would make it a bit too Christmas-y and would take the focus off the whole wedding theme, so I opted for blue since it adds to the winter feel of the wedding.

I am a huge fan of wood vaneer and tend to use it on almost every layout, and most of the time, I like it's natural look.  But every now and then, I love to dress it up, and using some blue pigment ink was a lot of fun, and made the arrows pop off the page.  The plain wood was blending in a bit too much for my liking against the kraft cardstock.

Let's not forget about my constant affection for mists, too, and how I rarely ever use them in a misting format, and almost always as a splatter effect!  And it was made even better with the red sparkly/glittery dots (from an old Christmas collection from Recollections) strewn in among the blue (Mister Huey's in Honor Society) - they added the right amount of texture and fun.

Speaking of glitter... who doesn't adore some glitter tape and glitter Thickers (both from American Crafts)?  I certainly can't seem to pass up the opportunity to add some sparkle to pages, and clearly went a bit glitter-crazed on this particular page. ;)  The smaller blue letter stickers are one of my favourites also from AC.

This layout was too much fun, and it came together very easily (all thanks to a little sketch inspiration from 2 Broke Girls Scrapbook).  Hope you all are having a great week!

Happy scrapping!

Ice Cream & Broken Car Windows...

What a busy weekend it's been so far!  I have 2 layouts to share this afternoon (one very recent and one about a week old - both from my personal albums).  Any guesses as to what they might be about?  :]

Okay, so we didn't actually break any car windows THIS weekend (we actually just got a new car not to long ago!) as this happened last year, but I just got around to scrapping it a few weeks ago.  Side note: Yes, the car was very dirty, and yes, we used cardboard and duct tape to create a make-shift window.  Surprisingly, it actually worked for a month at the beginning of winter (we live in Canada, and at the peak of winter it can get to -40C) which was incredible and also a life-saver!

Papers I used include some older Webster's Pages for the background, I believe (but I'm not 100% sure), some My Mind's Eye and 3Bugs in a Rug (the A-sides were very cat themed, but the B-sides provided some really great yellow and pinkish-red tone on tone designs).  I used silver Thickers for part of the title, and some smaller Glitz alphas in turquoise/red for the date and rest of the title.  Silver washi tape, a yellow button, Pink Paislee embellishments (the chipboard elements and cream photo tab), and some black doodling and outlining finished it off!  There's actually a video on how this layout came together here

I have been waiting and waiting for the perfect chance to use this awesome sunburst paper, and I FINALLY just went ahead and used it today (instead of staring at it and hoarding it for my stash just because it's so beautiful and cheerful).

Am I the only one that likes to scrapbook my ice cream addiction?  I sure hope not!  But other than just my love of ice cream, there is another side story to this photo which includes a solo celebration of my brother's birthday since he lives so far away.

The only two papers I used here were both from the Splash collection by Echo Park: the sunburst paper is called Sunshine, and the blue waves that I cut up into arrows is called Whales.  The white foam letter thickers are from Amy Tangerine in Journal, and the other one are American Crafts glitter chipboard in Sunrise.  Oh, how I love my glitter!  To finish it off, I used some self adhesive rhinestones from Abi's Craft (back when she was having her 90% closing down sale, I collected a whole bunch of these in a variety of colours and LOVE them!) in Bright Yellow.

This is probably one of my favourite layouts, even though it's really simple!  I hope you guys like it as much as I do, and find some inspiration in it.
Happy Sunday Scrapping, everyone! :]

Love and hugs,
Dalreen xo

Welcome!

So, the website has been up and running now for almost a month, and I couldn't be happier with it.  We also got our Facebook page set up, which has been great, and I thought that a blog section to the site might also be fun!  This way, aside from the service business, I now have a place to talk about all the scrappy goodness I get to enjoy, and post about layouts in more detail (other than what is already in the projects section), with more pictures, and even let you in on the videos that get posted to YouTube.  There may also be a few posts about the joys I get to endure in my everyday life. :]

This weekend is going to be great because I get to spend the majority of it in front of my craft desk creating memories!  And this weekend's projects include some daily "little moment" layouts, a few wedding layouts for a winter wedding album, and a lot of baby/child layouts for a baby book which my client will be giving as Christmas gifts!  I'm very excited about it all, and the reason I love scrapbooking!  Creating memories is one thing, but preserving them for life is something else, and that's wonderful!  I'll have some sneak peaks, hopefully by the end of the weekend.  :]

I hope you all have a wonderful mid-summer weekend - it's the perfect weather for camping and barbeques!  Enjoy it, and live life... so you can scrapbook it!  :]

Love and hugs,
Dalreen xo
